Presence apart
The series addresses the building of the same name, designed by the architect Shekhtel as a meeting place. Once, there was a direct exchange here—of people, things, glances. Now it’s an office. Everything continues, but differently—quieter, separate, without visible traces. People are present, but their presence doesn’t add up to a unified whole.
The form remains. The meaning has shifted. The entrance is open, but there is no intimacy. The works are based on this discrepancy. That which should unite, divides.
